EMANUEL SWEDENBORG (1688-1772)

The Swedish scientist, theologian and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg

was a clairvoyant. He would perceive events not discernible by the five

senses. His clairvoyance was investigated by the famous German

philosopher Immanuel Kant.

Once while Swedenborg was talking with friends in Gothenburg he had

a paranormal feeling and hastily departed from their company. On

returning from his walk, he told his friends about the vision he

apprehended. He said a fire had just broken out three doors from

where he lived and was raging even as he spoke with them. He was

emotional distraught for four hours until he perceived the fire was

extinguished.

This episode drew so much attention that it was brought to the

attention of the governor who had Swedenborg relate it to him. Two

days later messengers arrived in the city and confirmed Swedenborg's

vision as accurate. He was 300 miles away from his home when he

perceived the fire destroying the building near his home.
